HOUSE NEWS

Hello and welcome back to another year at the House. I’m hoping you all had a nice relaxing break with family and friends over the holidays.
Renovation update: Meetings have been happening with Gary Nevill from the Central Goldfields Shire Council, Manager for Projects, who has been working on the final draft of the refurbishment plans prior to the job being put up for tender. We are hoping this will be going to tender sooner rather than later!
We are currently in negotiations with the Maryborough Lions Club who has offered their club rooms at a minimal charge during the upgrades to allow us continuity in our programs and activities. Bernie and Mandy Crameri have offered office space to accommodate the needs of myself and the Book keeper/Nils facilitator.
In regard to the Alcoholics Anonymous meetings they will be relocating to a private residence for the duration of the works. All enquiries regarding AA please contact Gus Hogg on 0439 683510
No Interest Loan Scheme
Our No Interest Loan Scheme offers a safe, fair and affordable alternative. Loans of up to $1,200 for essentials items such as fridges, washing machines computers etc are available by making an enquiry followed up with an appointment with our NILS facilitator – Jan on 54614 551. Please Note: NILS enquiries and interviews are only available on Monday and Tuesday from 10.00 am to 1.00pm pm. This scheme is not available for payment of debts.

New volunteers
We’re always looking for new volunteers with skills and knowledge that can be utilised on our reception desk or running workshops that would benefit individuals or the House .
If you have any such skills we could utilise here, please call me on 54614 551 to arrange a suitable meeting time.
Meet our new gardener come handyman Charlie Humphrey who has returned to Maryborough after a long absence and is very keen to put back into the community using many of his work, life and hobby skills.
One of Charlie’s hobbies is working on cars, in particular hot rods. Through discussion with Charlie we have decided to run a Basic Car Safety workshop at a cost of $3.00 per day. This is a two day workshop designed to teach residents all the basics they should know to keep them and their car safe on the road between routine scheduled services. See further details over the page, bookings are essential.
We hope to see you at the House soon and don’t forget to check details on next page for upcoming programs and workshops!
